What do we know about Samsung Galaxy S23?

One of the most anticipated moments of the year for tech enthusiasts is approaching. Samsung will launch in a few days its flagship: the Samsung Galaxy S23. At this point, there are already many public details about the new device of the Korean company.

So we wanted to review these data to keep in mind what the brand could offer. Will it be worth buying one of these high-end smartphones? We tell you what to expect.

Design

Rumors suggest that the design of the Samsung Galaxy S23 will be very similar to that of its predecessor. Its chassis is built with aluminum and its front will feature the latest version of Gorilla Glass. The back will be made of glass with a matte finish and will have protection against scratches and bumps.

On the other hand, curves will no longer be the protagonist in these devices, as the two basic models will have flat screens. The Galaxy S23 Ultra, on the other hand, will have reduced lateral curves, compared to the previous model.

The brand is also expected to introduce new colors such as pink, green and black. In the ultra version, the gold color will be added. Also, the devices will have IP68 protection and, in the case of the Ultra model, the S Pen smart stylus will not be missing.

Display

Once again, the main difference between the three models of the Galaxy S23 line will be the size of the screen. The Samsung Galaxy S23 will feature a 6.1-inch panel, while the Galaxy S23+ will equip a 6.6-inch one. Finally, the Ultra model will have a 6.8-inch display.

All versions incorporate LTPO panels with variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 hertz. In terms of resolution, the S23 and S23 Plus versions will have Full HD+ and only the Ultra version will have Quad HD+ resolution.

Processor and memory

Finally, Samsung recognized that its Exynos chips are not worthy of its top cell phones. Therefore, all Galaxy S23s will use Qualcomm chips.

The devices will mount a modified version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is Qualcomm’s latest processor. The modifications consist of an increase in GPU frequency and the clock of the high-performance cores.

One change in these devices will be the disappearance of the 128 GB storage model. Therefore, the smallest capacity will be 256 GB. Regarding RAM, the Galaxy S23 and S23+ will come in 8 GB RAM variants and the Galaxy S23 Ultra will arrive with 8 or 12 GB.

Cameras

The photographic aspect is one of the most interesting for users. There are not so many details about the camera of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+, beyond the fact that they will incorporate a 50 MP main sensor. They will also mount a 12 MP wide-angle lens and a 10 MP telephoto.

The biggest leap will be seen in the Galaxy S23 Ultra, as it is known that it will mount a 200 MP sensor, probably the ISOCELL HPX. It is believed that this camera will feature mechanical stabilization on the sensor itself. It will also include a 12 MP wide-angle camera, a main telephoto and a secondary one of 10 MP each.

Software

In terms of software, the three devices will be the first of the brand to debut One UI 5.1. This is a new version of Samsung’s customization layer based on Android 13. So far, no details are known about the changes that this version will include.

Price

Price is also an important issue. Clues suggest that there will be a slight increase in the cost of the devices. This is a reference on the prices we will see in the market once they are available:

  • Samsung Galaxy S23: starting at $799.99.
  • Samsung Galaxy S23+: starting at $ 999.99.
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: starting at $1,199.99.

The Korean manufacturer has confirmed that the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event, where they will present their new flagship phones, will be held on February 1.
