After several months in Beta, Android 13 is now officially available. As usual with Google’s mobile operating system, Pixel devices are the first to have the new version. But it will gradually reach the rest of the brands.
Android 13 has many new features. Some have already been implemented and others will arrive in the next updates. If you have a device with this operating system, you”ll want to know what the latest version has to offer.
From Movical we are up to date with all the news regarding mobile phones, learn with us what Android 13 brings for all its users.
5 main new features in Android 13
Among the highlights of this new version of Android 13 we can find:
- Memory requirements.
Google usually readjusts with each new version the minimum requirements that a device must have to be updated. In the case of Android 13, there are changes in memory requirements, both RAM and internal.
Now, devices must have at least 2GB of RAM. This leaves out the cheapest devices on the market, which are those with 1 or 1.5GB. Regarding internal storage, a minimum of 16 GB will now be required.
Therefore, devices that do not meet these requirements will not be able to have the necessary certification to include Google Mobile Services. The company has also warned manufacturers that those devices that do not meet the requirements should not update to Android 13.
- Battery information
One of the most interesting new features of the new version has to do with the battery. Google has included a section that will show information about the health status of your phone’s battery. This way, you will be able to know if it is OK or if it needs to be replaced.
The function can be located in the system settings. You will be able to see a general status indicator that will indicate, among other things, its capacity and performance conditions of the device.
- Unified search in Pixel Launcher
In the next update of Android 13, users will have a new unified search engine in the app launcher.
Thanks to this feature, when you open the search engine in the app tray, you will be able to find more than just websites and apps in the results. You will also be able to find contacts or settings, making it easier to use the device.
- Security and privacy settings
One of the main claims of mobile device users has to do with security and privacy. Therefore, Google has strengthened this aspect in this new version of Android 13.
Among the new features is the ability to choose which specific photos and videos you want to share with an app. That is, you no longer have to give permission to the entire gallery.
The new version of the operating system will also detect if you copy sensitive data such as phone numbers, emails and authentication credentials. It will then be able to automatically delete them from the clipboard after a while to ensure that apps don’t access them.
As for notifications, users will be able to grant or deny permissions to apps when they are downloaded. In addition, from now on they will require explicit permission to send notifications, so they will no longer be sent by default.
- App languages
In response to user requests, Android 13 will allow the language of each app to be set separately. Previously, this was not possible, so to change the language of an app, you had to adjust the entire language of the device.
